We are always in need of new volunteers who are willing to teach once a week at one of our participating schools.
If you:

have at least one hour a week free to teach
-

IN
MEMORY
On behalf of the HCPP Students and Board of Directors, we are grateful to these volunteers who passed away in 2023. Thank-you for your dedication to the lives of students.
Bonnie Phillpot was an Administrative Assistant in the Saskatoon Public School Division who always went far beyond the call of duty. She began her involvement with the Heart of the City Piano Program in the early 2000’s when she volunteered to be one of the supervisors for student piano practice at recess. For the next two decades, she continued to nurture and encourage the piano students at W.P. Bate Community School, and eventually became the Coordinator of the Piano Program at that school. She welcomed volunteer teachers into the building, ensured that all students had books, equipment, and practice spaces, organized student recitals, and travelled with over a dozen students to the annual Saskatoon Music Festival sessions. Bonnie passed away on October 26, 2023. Her warm, quiet, and caringdisposition and her unending dedication will always be remembered, and she is greatly missedby all who knew her.
Cathy Zuck was an accomplished lawyer who specialized in labour law for most of her practice. In addition to her many professional achievements, she had many diverse talents. She was an accomplished pianist and talented vocalist who shared her love of music with students in the Heart of the City Piano Program. In 2017 she began as a piano teacher at W.P. Bate School and later also taught students at Caswell School. She was one of the most enthusiastic, meticulous, and dedicated volunteers we have had in our program, and went to great lengths to inspire and encourage each of her students, even asking for books in advance of teaching so that she could study them and be totally prepared for her upcoming lessons. Cathy passed away on October 5, 2023. We miss her and we will always be grateful that she gave so generously of her time and expertise for the benefit of our young pianists.
